CUTTING CORDS TO TRAUMA: Live for Those Who Died

Imprinted Trauma

Bombs were not the only thing exploding in Boston on April 15, 2013.  Fear erupted  into the atmosphere, descending down upon the people of Boston.

This horrific event has been imprinted upon not only the runners but all of the supporters, friends, family, responders and even those witnessing this tragedy on television and on the Internet. This type of profound energetic imprint does not simply go away. It becomes entrenched into our very being and can change the course of our life...if we let it.

The experience will become a part of our history but it doesn't have to dictate our present or future.

Grief is an Imprint
Just as I cut counter-productive energetic cords on a person-to-person level , it is possible to cut cords connecting us to a traumatic events. Of course, this will not remove the event from our memory but rather release us from the emotional charge we once felt in response to such an experience.

It IS a choice;  we do not have to fall victim to life's shadow events. They are here to teach us about ourselves. Cutting energetic cords to high stress situations creates the emotional space to process our experience in a positive and powerful manner.

Life goes on. Carrying limiting imprints (energetic cords) does not honor those we lost.  Live for those who died; that is the highest salute we can offer.

THOU SHALT NOT FORGIVE

Rabi David Wolpe’s article, TIME TO FORGIVE THE TSARNAEV BROTHERS?  NOT SO FAST. appeared in The Washington Post today.  In part, he said,

Forgiveness is irrelevant if it is only words. “I forgive him in my heart” means little. To watch something unfold on TV and then declare your forgiveness for the perpetrator is a cheap and empty declaration.”

I wholeheartedly agree.  I do not believe in the traditional meaning of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not possible to achieve in the way that most define it. If we are told to forgive and can't find it within our heart, are we then a sinner? I say NO.

If, however, we look for the reason why we have experienced such an event, we might just glean a deeper understanding of our own self, including and especially our fear.

To say we forgive, yet to act in a manner completely opposite of that is inauthentic. Yet, we are driven by church, morals and family upbringing to aspire to such forgiveness.

Regularly I send gratitude out into the world for what I may have learned about myself through having the experience, even and particularly in the most trying of circumstances. I seek balance with the Universe as I seek to understand without judgment.

Offering gratitude when I am hurting is not easy, but neither is saying "I forgive" when I don't really mean it or feel it.

As Wolpe says, “The beginning of sanity is the recognition that some acts are unforgivable."

WANNA BE RIGHT OR HAPPY?

These days my confidence comes not from being right, but from not fearing to be wrong.

Know Thyself
But it wasn't always this way.  Looking back, I  see that many of the debates and arguments in which I participated revolved around wanting to be right.  There was an urgency coming from deep within, a powerful push to come out on top.

This wasn't about winning and certainly not about thinking that I was more intelligent than my “opponent”.  No, it was something much deeper; so deep in fact, I wasn't even aware it existed.  When it reared its ugly head, I had to instantly and robotically become one with it so as to be able to continue the charade.  I didn't know it was a sham, mind you, but it was just that.

That thing so deep within, well that was FEAR.  Growing up in a war zone mandated the appearance of assurance.  It wasn't safe to be seen as wrong or weak.  So, I bucked up, pushed out my lower lip and stood strong.  As strong as a little girl can stand, that is.  I was a great little actress but that didn't win me any awards.

The Most Important Relationship is with Yourself
Not fearing to be wrong was a result of a great deal of trial and error.  Eventually I found that falling, then getting up and falling again and getting up again indeed make me strong.  I learned that making a mistake is not equal to death.  Owning my missteps makes me more powerful and confident.

Ultimately, it’s about loving me.  I didn't yell at my young son when he made a “boo-boo” because I understood he was learning something new.  Ah; I get it. I now feel the same way toward myself.  I’m always learning something new and hope to continue until I draw my very last breath. There will be many more ups and downs, but each journey into the valley and up to the peak is precious to me.

Peace accompanies not having to be right.  The more I let go of being right, the more RIGHT I become.  Go figure…!

DIVINE DISCONTENT

Divine Discontent can be quite useful.  It can be the rocket fuel needed to get you moving again and it can stimulate your creative juices.

What Moves You?
When this energy is channeled in a positive direction, it becomes a natural step in a direction that supports your Soul’s calling.  It can help you weed out those things in life that distract you from your heart’s desires.

When not acknowledged as such, however, an imbalance can occur.  Symptoms are: lack of motivation, fatigue, trying new things (jobs, locations) and nothing holding your attention, low-grade depression, frustration, irritability, nothing has meaning, soul weariness, a feeling of having a half empty heart, cynical attitude, heaviness and pressure set in, physical discomforts, feeling discouraged, overwhelmed and rarely having fun. It is natural to have these symptoms come and go during the course of your life but as the exception and not the rule.

If you feel that these symptoms hang on, it may be time to look at root causes.  These causes more often than not, began in your earliest childhood and show up as energetic cords connecting you to old negative imprints.

These cords can be cut once you realize and accept the fact that you are stuck.  Remember, being stuck is merely a symptom of those energetic cords/early imprints.  Once the cords are cut, it is as if the very anchors that once held you back are instantly gone…and you are FREE to move in the direction of your truest desire.

If you have unsuccessfully tried to free yourself from emotional malaise, it may be helpful to know that even though you've come to intellectually understand the nature of your discontent, you are likely still tethered to family-of-origin beliefs that do not serve you (aka, energetic cords).

Help is available!  The very essence of my work, cutting energetic cords, is a healing process very near and dear to my heart.  We are ALL stuck at one time or another.  Now that you have this information, being stuck moves from unconscious to conscious…you now have a choice!

SHAMANISM AND SCHIZOPHRENIA

Obituaries

SCHRODER, FLORENCE KRAEMER

Thursday September 18, 2003
Florence Kraemer Schroder
Florence Kraemer Schroder, a homemaker, died Tuesday of heart failure at Pontchartrain Health Care Center. She was 73. Mrs. Schroder was born in Marrero and lived in Mandeville for the past three years. Survivors include three sons, Richard Aysien and David and Freddie Schroder; two daughters, Susan Schroder Newton and Connie Schroder Stewart.

Today, my mamma would have been 83 years old had she stayed on the planet. Flo died without ever knowing the beauty of her incredible gift.  Of Shaman descent, the veils that were to rise and fall did not do so for her.  She was unable to regulate her "vision" the way I can, therefore, she constantly saw "things" most do not - or would not ever chose to - see.  This haunted her during most of the years of her life.

Schizophrenia is often called the "Shaman's disease".   What we call schizophrenic is, as Joseph Campbell has discussed, called (positively) visionary or mystical in shamanic cultures, hence is valued, not feared or sedated with chemicals. As he clarifies 'The shaman is the person, male or female, who ... has an overwhelming psychological experience that turns him totally inward. It's a kind of schizophrenic crack-up. The whole unconscious opens up, and the shaman falls into it.

I am grateful that Mama held open the door for me so that I could come into the world and into my own shamanistic healing abilities.  She endured tremendous suffering.  Shamanic initiation is often unpleasant, even at times horrific, and can involve being mythically stripped to the skeleton, dismemberment, or being taken to pieces. Fortunately, I found healing and ego stability at the other end of my ordeal; Mama did not.

Happy birthday, Mama.  What you fought for on Earth is now at your fingertips.  I love you.
